I want to thank anyone and everyone who has left comments or gone away with a wee bit of creative inspiration from the cards I've made or trips I've taken. My creativity seems to have become a little dry as work and family life have overtaken my time.

So, this will be my last post here to let you know there won't be any more. I will hopefully continue to make a few cards for the shops I have sold to, people I love and sanity it gave me.

I will be poking my nose into your blogs from time to time and I go away having truly enjoyed this little adventure I called "The Joy of Cards".

Our little cruise to ALASKA!!!

After a whole year of waiting we finally got to leave on our cruise! Yes, we booked this last August and have been counting down ever since. Chad dropped us off at Canada Place and away we went!

Our room was HUGE! At least compared to the other cruises I'd been on. It was perfect for the 3 of us. We spent much time in our room because of the view so it was the cruise to have the extra space. Don't these two look like a couple of little kids excited for Disneyland? They kept me laughing all week! It really is different travelling with just girls and they were so gracious to let me tag along!

My daily dose: of view.... (yes, this is our room and that is a pic of only half the window!!!)

Our daily dose of..... ice cream! Hmmm, hmm good! I miss the ice cream!

Our daily dose of..... room service! This was the funniest one as it was like pulling teeth to get them to deliver something that wasn't specifically on their little menu. I had to beg them to send just some chips not the hot dog and they sent this huge dish! We all had our fill and it looked like we hardly touched it!
We did have breakfast delivered almost everyday. Fruit, muffins, toast, yogurt, coffee & hot chocolate were our usuals.

Ya, Pam and Laura kept me laughing. They were wayyyyy to excited for a sing-along Abba night! I've got some choice video to prove this too!!! hehehe I makes me laugh just thinking about them!

Yes, they both were chair dancing, throwing kisses and just plain crazy! I couldn't stop laughing! And neither could anyone watching them!!! They were they main attraction!

"I'm too excited to sleep" Pam wanted a nap and Laura thought otherwise! I caught many choice pics of them!

We had 3 stops and we took a tour in each one. Our first stop was Ketchikan and we had a silly ride on the Duck Tour! So funny! They called it an amphibious vehicle, first you drive through the town then you drive right into the water and your a boat! It really was perfect because we had some rain here and we were safe and dry!

I also have many pics of Laura taking pics! We were such tourists! (And Pam was always smiling!)

In Juneau we had a tour up into a temperate rain forest. This golf cart took us up the hillside to a lookout point. Our driver was the accountant so we thought of Chad. Ahhhh!

It was amazing what can grow without sunshine. The forest was thick with misty fog yet green and lush. We saw an eagles nest in the distance and the local owl.

They also had this green house to walk through which had to most gynormous hanging baskets we had ever seen! Pam and I thought of mom every step of the way in here! She would have LOVED it!

Then the bus took us on to the Mendenhall Glacier. This is what I'd been waiting for! I could have sat there for hours just taking it all in.

The blue color the ice takes is stunning!

There are not very many pics of the 3 of us but this one makes me smile!

Our 3rd and final stop was in Skagway. We were here for 12 hours so we got the chance to take a 5 hour jeep ride into Yukon! We took turns driving and followed our guide. There were 6 jeeps all together ( I think) driving, stopping at some sights and driving some more!

We actually drove through BC on our way to Yukon and then back to Skagway.

Then back on the ship for 2 days at sea before getting back home. We had amazing weather, hours of watching the world go by and the peace and rest that I needed.
Now back to reality....

Acetate - again!

Yes, I've been playing with acetate! It is the clear stuff that you used to use for overhead projectors! I found an old box of it somewhere. You can pick it up at any stationary store or for better quality stuff CHF sells clear card sheets which are WAY thicker! All I did was cut a strip and attach it along the right hand side. The scallop oval and jewels are on top on it

Anyway, this was a card I was asked to do for a class but it didn't work out. So, I thought I'd share it with you! The Bella is colored with Copics which worked really well on this patterned paper. It makes such a difference what kind of paper you color on! This is Sugar by Cosmo Cricket and Prism cardstock.

More holiday coloring....

Yes, I had to play with a few images that required a wee bit more time than all the little ones I did for cards! :) This one is actually stamped on a sheet of acetate with Stazon and then colored on the reverse side. Get it?

It took some getting used to, but with a little patience and and swaks of markers I blended, blended and blended until I was happy. The great thing about acetate is if something isn't working you can wipe it off and start over.

Blending is also very different on acetate and so is the depth and brightness of the colors but it was fun to try something different!

The clouds in TK images always give me a bit of trouble. So, I didn't stamp them with the original image. When I was finished coloring I stamped them in white craft ink on the top side! The little hint of blue sky was colored directly onto the box and the clouds have a subtle hint of floating on top!

When I was satisfied, I attached it to this varnished, wooden jewelry box. Added the sentiment, ribbons, jewels and flower and my daughter loved it! To make the jewels and hardware brown and also used my Copics to color them. Thanks to their alcohol base, they color so many surfaces!!! LOVE THEM!!!

3 weeks to go!!!

Last summer a couple special girls in my life decided to go on a big holiday and I get to tag along!!! My sister and her bff wanted to celebrate a big birthday :) we all agreed a cruise was the way to go! So, it didn't take us too long to decide on an Alaskan cruise and find the perfect itinerary and travel date.

Now, I've been counting down for quite some time and realized yesterday it was time to start celebrating! 3 weeks left!!!

---

I've been wanting to make a fun card for the occasion and this is what I came up with! I borrowed these stamps from a friend, Paradise Found at Cornish Heritage Farms, and got to spend some time chatting and stamping at another friends' house! How great is that!!! (Thanks for the invite dear friend, it was just what I needed yesterday!)

I also stamped 3 more layouts with this set and will post them as soon as I have them all together!

For the Love of COLORING!!!

This is the product of my camping holiday! (on top of hanging with the fam, roasting way too many marshmellows, enjoying the sun & ocean, and stinking like campfire!!! :)

I brought my markers, choice stamps, ink & paper. Pack little and create much!!! Loads of experiments, duds but still came home with about 90 images colored to make into cards! Yahoo!!!

I keep forgetting to take pics of gift sets I make! Oh, well! I know I've made them but it sure doesn't give me anything to post!

This is a set of cards I made for a special pastor in our church. He had his 75th b-day and we had a great time showing our appreciation of him.

They are so simple! My Minds Eye has created their Tres Jolie set of wonderful papers, and stickers that match. Most of these cards use the stickers as the border/ribon down the side, which match perfectly!

---

Then I used a variety of stamps and sentiments for the focal point! Voila! I made 4 of each and gave him the whole set!

---

Whistler Mountaineer Train Ride!

We finally got to enjoy Chad's birthday gift from last November! A train ride to Whister! This is a 3 hour ride from Vancouver to Whistler and it is through some of the most spectacular terrain out there! No cars around here!

On the way up we were in the last car and got some cool views of the train too!

I loved watching Laura get camera happy! She just got this new toy and made good use of it! Yes, this is her head on the side!

We stayed there for 2 nights, just hanging out and enjoying the beautiful weather. They are really getting all excited for the Olympics and have this bobsled for you to pose it!

Then we decided to have one big "play time". Gear, helmets, boots....

and ATV's!!! What a fun way to spend 2 hours!

Me trying to be brave! (This was my first time on a bike since my accident, and boy it really did hit me! Talk about facing some fears!) I did get more courageous and ended up being covered in wet mud!

I offered to make cards for a staff appreciation lunch at my daughters school. I bit off a little more than I planned on chewing though. I thought it was for teachers and I'd make about a dozen cards. Oh, no! It was for all staff; office, TA's, library etc. etc.

Turned out to be more like 30! Ooooops! Oh, well! I'm still glad I offered to do it as this set is THE BOMB!

This is a close up of one of them. The background is also a stamp! Perfect for school!

I've got the best girls in the whole world! Chad was at church volunteering and not at home to help. They did this all by themselves!!!

The pic above is a photo of the tea towels I've made for my mom! She has become fairly computer savy, thanks to the grandkids, but I don't think she will see this before tomorrow evening!

These are a set of plain towels I bought at Walmart. Stamped on 'ticking' material I bought at my local fabric shop. They recommended it is the smoothest cotton in the store. It stamps beautifully!!!

This is one of the images I colored while away camping a while back. I used ultra thick clear embossing powder to cover the whole thing to give it a glassy feel.

The background stamp is Cracked Earth from Cornish Heritage Farms stamped in dark brown ink on rust paper. Finished it off with a frame corner and ribbon.

On another note, I created about 50-60 cards 2 weeks ago to fill some orders for the store I sell in and forgot to take any pics!!! Oh, well! I guess that should be a good excuse to make more!

I've started growing my appreciation for Splitcoast Stampers sketch challenge on Wednesdays. When I just want to create something but limited in time it such a great way to get started!

Along with the sketch challenge I also wanted to play along with Cornish Heritage Farms Backgrounder Blitz week! They are THE BEST at creating FANTASTIC background stamps!!! Let my heart be still while I wait for the new release!!!

---

So, this card (no patterned paper, just ink & stamps) is my culmination of both worlds and the colors we are renovating our bathroom into right now :) Love it!

Splitcoast Sketch Challenge

I don't usually take the opportunity to participate in the daily challenges Splitcoast Stampers offers but today was a little different.

My friend Lisa was hosting the sketch challenge! And it happened to be my day off work so how could I not play along! The idea was to use your oval punches or die cuts on an angle!

---

So, I stamped the full version of Rose Garden, by Cornish Heritage Farms, and punched out the section I wanted to use. How simple a fun to change it up a bit!

---

My PLAYING!

Here is my pile of tidbits that I created while away camping! All I let myself pack is my little case I got from Micheals and my cutter (ok the 6x6 paper packs didn't fit but I had room in my suitcase! :)

White ultra smooth paper, stamps (unmounted or acrylic mostly), inks & Copics! That's it!

---

I brought my 6x6 patterned paper packs to be able to choose matching markers. I select the pp I want to use with the stamp, do the coloring and then keep them together for when I get home and can actually finish them into cards! (Notice the pp's underneath some of the images)

---

I also had more time than I ever do to just take my time so I also got to play around with stamping Thomas Kinkade's and more coloring! I will post those as I complete them!

My world just expanded - AGAIN!

Now, I know there really isn't much to this but the point is how easy it is to stamp on FABRIC! Yes, I had a push from Sherrie with her pencil case and a while back I also made pencil cases but they were really kid like not for posting :)

With these Crafty Secrets stamps I was surprised how well pigment ink stamped them. But I really needed to have a fine/tightly woven fabric.

This one I used Archival ink and again I was in shock at how well all the details stamped! Again, just simple stamping to show it actually works! Felt funny sewing on fabric again and not paper!

A Weekend Away!!!

This last weekend we had the pleasure of being able to go camping for a few days! Ya, it was cold and rainy part of the time but the trailer my parents have is like a hotel on wheels! Furnace, microwave, tv and of course we must bring card supplies!

This first pic is my youngest daughter getting creative with her ink!

We enjoyed the bubbles....

The play station. Yes, even Allie looked like she wanted to play! My parents are not dog people and have not wanted to let her in the trailer (whose to blame them, she sheds soooo much) but because Chad could only come for one night and we had no where else to bring her on a spur of the moment she was allowed this time!

As always, she found a cozy corner and called it home!

Maya had so much fun creating that Dad & K also came to see the fun!

Ahhh, you can't have a good campout without a FIRE!!! This pic above is Chad's idea of making the best smores. Squishing the chocolate into the marshmellows and then roasting them.

Getting the toasting to perfection and being prepared to sandwich them all together. (Notice the graham cracker hanging out of his mouth and the other in his hand waiting)

It was quite a sight to see him eat his melted mess!

Hmmm, hmmm good!

Chad could only stay for one night and then go back to work while I had a couple more days off. So, the girls and I had much fun playing games, trying out silly masks and crafting together! We stayed in our pj's all day!

Then out of no where the sun appeared for a few hours! So we hit the beach! West coast style, in our winter coats not bathing suits!

All in all it was a much needed break from the regular schedules of life!

I also got to spend quite a bit of time with my Copics and stamps but I haven't taken any pics yet so, give me a few days and I'll show you the play time I had too!

Oldie but Goodie!

It has been a long time since I've done much embossing! So, I made this one by reverse embossing with clear powder on white paper and coloring the background with foam & Ranger Ink.

Stamped the branch with craft ink, added some glitter to the flowers, stamped the sentiment with the same craft ink, layered it up and added some ribbon. Yes, I love ribbon on just about every card!

This was actually quite quick and easy! Gotta love that!

What farm is fresh?

I've always thought it odd that this stamp set was called Farm Fresh! I've never yet got a whiff of any fresh smelling farm!!! hehehe

Oh well! It still is a set I really love! I'm still working on using up pre-stamped backgrounds and coloring pre-stamped images. Slowly, but surely I am working through my stash. Good thing I've had a stash too. I've just plain not been feeling to creative lately. Too tired, too tired of seeing bad things happening to good people, too tired of feeling tired. It is just all too draining!

I guess I've kinda been in a slump lately.

Thankfully, I got to spend yesterday evening at a friends house, and this afternoon at another friends house and boy was that time needed muchly! After relaxing with them and seeing all their fun new stuff I got a bit of an itch to play again.

But, my creative space is such a disaster right now there is no way anything very good can come out of it! So, I spent the evening doing some shopping and picked up some shelving stuff & baskets.

The plan now is to CLEAN UP!!! Wish me luck!

Yikes!!! February has been absolutely jam packed with way too many big celebrations!!! My mom just had her 60th birthday, my sister's 30th & my daughters 13th birthdays are tomorrow and I had my b-day kinda lost in between! :)

My sisters and I decided to throw a big party for our mom and this is the invitation we made for it. Kinda simple, her favorite colors and she is a flower fanatic so we thought they were perfect for her.
---
One afternoon a few weeks ago we got together with the 4 kiddies (nieces & nephews all 4 & under) and we managed to make 38 invites. I don't think the 3 of us had been able to spend time like that together in quite some time and it was great to be able to do this!
---
Sorry, I've not been able to post this sooner but we didn't want her to see it and I haven't had much time for the craft table these days!

Finding Treasures!

It seems every time I go through my stuff to clean up or sort things I find things I've pre-stamped and never used! This time it was these uncolored flowers. Yes, this is an old stamp SU! set but sometimes these old sets are just what you're looking for!

Anyway, these images are stamped on glossy paper. I wanted to color with my Copics but I've been told that they don't work on glossy. I went ahead and tried anyway!

---

They definately don't blend but you can still use them. You just don't get the shading that these markers can give you on nice, smooth paper.

I also took a very light grey to go around the image and give it a wee bit of dimension. Yes, I know they look like they are floating in thin air but oh well!

Then just layered them with some cardstock, stamped a sentiment and used simple embellishment on each to finish them up!

I'm Getting Distressed!!! :)

Yes, my distress is all about the ink though! Ranger Ink that is! In a few days I have the pleasure of presenting another card class at my LSS and it features 4 different ways to use Ranger's Distress Inks. This first card is called brushless watercoloring. The focus really is the stamp and I just didn't want to cover it up with a bunch of embellies so I picked my favorite bg and let it speak for itself!
This second card is making the paper look kinda like leather. The real name of the techique has slipped my mind right now! Figured it was a great masculin looking paper so the trees and again very little embellies to finish it off.
This pic really does not do this justice. It is dark outside and I just can't seem to get a nice shot. Anyway, this card started off being ivory c/s. The ink is applied to a craft mat, spritzed with water and then you smear the paper over top. Kinda fun, real inky and I liked that in this sample it was a soft look.

The fourth card we are doing I've shown you a while ago. It is having some fun with the spritz and flick technique!

The whole idea is just to show the girls there are many way to use this ink and it is way more fun to use than just stamping with it!

Fun & Simple

I found my self sitting and coloring images a little while ago with no plans to use them. I just plain picked marker colors without a care for being able to match them to papers I have!!!

Sometimes, ok most times for me, my favorite cards are the ones I don't plan out. I start with one thing, say the color image, and look for ways to use them later.

---

There is much talk about notebooks or journals where many people jot down thoughts and ideas. I have come to terms with my mind not being able to work that way. :)

---

I tend to wing it! Sometimes for good and sometimes not so good. And I'm ok with that!

This is just another way I used the same colored image and focused on a different color scheme. I like the first one much more but I thought the purple inked background stamp on the teal paper was kinda fun!

This is a card I made for a dear friend's birthday. She has been the queen of techniques with the philosophy of more is good (even though her style has changed since then :)

Anyway, I had a ton of fun trying to use my Ranger alcohol inks in as many ways as I could on this. The background was ivory paper, smeared with ink then "spritzed & flicked" with water.

---

The photo corner and arrow were silver & copper and thanks to the inks they are now black and red! The funny square, jewel thing was an architectural stone which I inked up and covered in glaze and pressed in the jewel. The stamp is also from a set she gave me a couple of years ago. We both have a soft spot in our hearts for vintage stamps!

---

Then a little piercing and copper paper to mat it with and I don't think I could add one more thing! Maybe next year I will try to go more simple and clean, like her current style is!!!

Another Calendar, with some tricks....

I know I've shown you a bunch of calendars already, but this one has a few tricks that I've added and wanted to show you. I have really been enjoying playing with my alcohol inks and copic markers. This flower was a teal color from the store so I colored it with a deep red copic marker! I also colored the jewel brad to match!

In this one, I used my copics to color the red baubles and red brad. My ranger ink to color the arrow. It was silver to start and now it is teal!

This one, I also colored the spiral with my copics.

Last but not least, that flower was white to start! But not more, thanks to my copics!!!

More Background Stamps!

Simple, and hopefully elegant. I love the big b/g stamps to make my own patterned paper! Here I've used a few more of the pre-stamped card stock I had before I recieve my order from Cornish Heritage Farms. They have soooo many wonderful new ones it is not easy deciding how many I can afford to get!

My Christmas Projects...

Every Christmas for the last 5 or so years I've been making my mom & sisters something special for Christmas. Things, like card sets, coasters and stamped candles to name a few.

This year I planned to make these calendars last summer, got crazy busy this fall and only decided I HAD to do them on Dec. 23rd!!! Oh my, how crazy is that! Seeing as each one took me about 3-4 hours that is all I did until our get together!

---

I used 4 x 4 chipboards coasters, 2 - 12x12 designer papers and lots of flowers & embellies!

Since then, I decided to make a few more for friends!!! They are soo fun!

As Martha as I'll ever get.... Christmas 2007

I saw this idea in a commercial to use cranberries inside, upside-down glasses and then they become candle holders!!! Make sense!?!?!? Anyway, this is the easiest way to create something fun. Then we got to thinking about all kinds of things you could put inside the glass depending what the occasion is - gumballs, paper curls, tinsel or whatever!

Anyway, this year Christmas was a year of posing and picture taking! Everyone got in on the fun! (This is my beautiful 12 year old daughter!!!)

Even my 4 year old nephew loved his new camera!

Getting lessons on what new camera's can do! Great! Now Chad wants another new toy!!!

Grandma is enjoying her yearly Christmas story reading time to the Grandkids! It looks like they are all enjoying it too!

Every year I get to enjoy Christmas Eve with my parents, sisters and our families. We eat fun food, exchange gifts and enjoy each others company.

My sister making fun of my re-using a Christmas bag from last year!

My sister Pam and I, before we both got sick! Well, you can't say we don't share!!!

Then on Christmas morning, "Dad" gets to pull out the gifts from under our tree!

This year, he got the gift "wrapping" that never ends! Thanks to an un-named brother-in-law of mine, Kassandra has been dying to wrap Dad's gift with an endless amount of saran-wrap. I think she actualling used packing plastic and doubled the size of the gift with the many layers!

He was pleased when he finally got the end though, it was his Lord of the Rings extented editions that he has been wanting. (Yuck!) hehehe

Then the girls got the first of 2 big gifts. This is their reaction to finding tickets to the TobyMac concert in February!

Copic Marker Class

Yes, I've been infected my the Copic marker bug! I have a set coming to me for Christmas that I snuck in and used to make this sample for a class in January! Ooops! Don't tell my mom! :)

Anyway, I was going for simple yet playing with some basic color layering. These markers are so easy to create dimension. I also wanted to use some stamps that the shop sells that I've not used in a class yet and that thought led me straight to My Favorite Things. I really like this little coffee set as it has a focal image along with little pieces, like separate mugs and the corner coffee beans, to compliment it.

Well, on a personal note, I am really working at finding the peace of Christmas today (after I get all the house cleaning done). To relax and be able to enjoy the anticipation of my favorite celebration. To ponder on the gift of Christ and be grateful.

Background stamps!

I've always loved big, background stamps, collected a bunch of them but not used them as much lately! So, with all the new ones that Cornish Heritage Farms just released (thanks to Lisa) I figured I should use what I have pre-stamped before I get new ones.

Yes, I have been known to pre-stamp wacks of backgrounds, keep them in a shoebox and pull them out as needed. Saves time when I feel creative and gives me something to stamp when I'm not feeling creative!

This first card used white craft ink overtop of Rose Red paper. Black mat. Embossed the sentiment and added the ribbon & flowers. I used the same basic layout for the next card too. Except the bg stamp is on vellum and attached with the brads on the bottom and some adhesive under the snowflakes and sentiment.

---

I strategically placed the snowflakes over the birds on this stamp to give it a different look. (just in case some of you know what this stamp actually looks like :)

I'm kinda needing to do something other than Christmas right now and these cards were just what I needed!

you get creative at the dollar store!!! I was so disapointed when PaperTrey sold out of their nugget tins! I bought the Holiday Treat stamps, 10 tins and then realized there are many, many people I want to be able to give just a little something to for Christmas and 10 tins just plain wasn't enough!

I even went down to Bellingham to buy a ton of the Hersey Nugget chocolates. But now had no containers to put them in!
---
So, at the dollar store today I started poking around in all the containers and ended up with these glass jars! Just add some tissue to hold the chocolates in place, ranger alcohol inks, embossing and ribbon!

Yay! Problem solved and all my friends will be gettin' some chocolate!

Someone Special

I made this card for someone special that was overdue a birthday card! Maybe she will figure out who she is, maybe she won't! Either way, I hope she likes it!

This was one of those that needed to have some extra touches. So, I started by using my Ranger Inks again to give the background some depth & stamped over to add some lines.

---

Then I stamped the 3 flowers (Cornish Heritage's new Silhoutte flowers by Kim Hughes), let them dry and colored overtop with a sparkly gel pen to glitafy (glitter) them! :) Added the ribbon, tag, corner punch and snaps to complete it. The tag has the "Best Wishes" embossed in copper.

My mom loves the "Red Hat's Society" stuff so I made her a couple of these to give her as stocking stuffers. (I don't think she peeks in here much?!?!?!)

Anyway, I started this a blank paper, more alcohol inks and nothing in particular in mind to make. When I finished creating the background paper I decided pretty quick that it would be perfect for this type of card.

It's another Thomas Kinkade card!!! Hopefully, you aren't getting tired of them! And hopefully, I will create something soon with stamps that aren't getting as much love anymore!

Anyway, this is my first attempt at useing Copic markers. They are fun to play around with.

I also stamped the background with Cornish Heritage Farm's Paisley backgrounder. Then I accidentally wiped some pearlX on a corner. Realizing the versa mark ink I used with the stamp was still wet I decided to brush a light dusting of pearlX over the whole thing.

---

It probably won't stay on it handled to much but it sure gives the paper a light sparkle! And who doesn't love some sparkle?!?!?!

Getin' Inky!

Indeed I did! I've been playing with Ranger Distress Inks & Alcohol Inks lately, thanks to a good friend! And if you have ever played with them you will know what I'm talking about!!!

I started with plain, ivory paper, a couple distress ink pads and some cut & dry foam. I smeared/rubbed/sponged the ink onto the paper and kept playing with the color until I achieved what I was looking for.

---

Then I stamped the TK image in archival ink overtop. Roughed up the edges, used my glitter pen to bring our the sparkled of the snow, tied on the ribbon and then sat there and didn't really like it. :(

---

That friend that got me excited about all this ink saw it sort of tossed aside and liked it. So, I'm posting this for her! Maybe someone else will get inspired out there and improve my attempt!!!

Paper Ornament Class

This is another class I've been awaiting a long time!!! I had so much fun preparing that I just wanted to teach it right away!

We will be using Basic Grey's new Figgy Pugging line of paper, Stamping Bella baubles, ribbons, die cuts, mod podge, and sanding tools to create 3 ornaments. The angel & the bird are 2 of them. I posted the star a while ago when I first planned the class.

Yes, I can make cards without stamping!!! hehehe I followed a challenge to create a card using chipboard, Making Memories product and an avery label!

Very interesting combo! But so fun to work completly outside of your normal idea pattern. Anyway, the chipboard is from a Basic Grey pack, the sentiment is a Making Memory gel sticker and the label is covered with matching paper and looped around the frame. I was going for using it as I might have used ribbon.

---

Then of course attach the flowers for a focus! I took this little close up so you could see the gel sticker better.

---

Man Cards

Thankfully, these Thomas Kinkade images, by Cornish Heritage Farms, and some techniques I learned from a good Ranger instructor gave me the tools I needed for some b-day cards for a couple men in my life!

I used Ranger distress ink on plain manila like paper to create the background. Stamped the image in black over top. Then UTEE'd over the entire thing! A little stitching, more gold embossing, and a few layers and there is not one inch that looks to feminine!

---

Ok, so stitching might be considered feminine, but at least I used black thread! :)

---

I love the way they turned out, and felt so good to give them away!

Making the Most!

Making the most of patterned paper! Seems to be something I tend to try a lot!!!

Anyway, this is paper I received from a friend a while ago and I'm finally forcing myself to use it. It came in 6 X 6 size and I loved it so much (hence the delay in cutting into it) that I had to use every inch! Easily decided to make 3 X 6 cards.

---

Then after cutting enough to make 12 cards, I wanted to make 2 different themes. Also something I love to do, use the same layout/paper and have them available for different occasions.

---

The birthday card is watercolored with SU! watercolor crayons & a Dove blender pen. The Christmas card is embossed with Kaleidoscope powder but you can't really see that in the photo. So, you will have to trust me that it is all glittery!

---

Then I added baubles, like the ones from Stampingbella, and also one of her sentiments.

---

I've counted in full yards and will give it all to the person who is exactly right or the closest. Paper Christmas Ornament

After much fiddling, re-doing, and cutting I finally figured out a way to have a paper ornament class!

This is one that will be included in the class and I've already thought of more embellishing that I could have done to it! :(

Oh well! This Basic Grey new Figgy Pudding paper is so great! It was the perfect paper to make these ornaments!

Pocket Swap!

It's long over due but this little card is finally going to be sent on its way!!! I signed up for a swap way back, kept having computer glitches and couldn't get the recipients addresses UNTIL TODAY!!!

I know that sounds funny but I received my cards a few weeks ago and I feel really bad I couldn't send mine out. Oh well, the joys of the computer age!

---

Anyway, this pocket is just simply made by sewing up the sides. I folded down the top to give it some detail, punched the edge and used a brad to hold it down.

---

The image, Thomas Kinkade Christmas Village, is stamped with SU! Classic ink on their glitter paper. I roughed up the edges using a scrapper kinda thingy, layered it on the black, tied some ribbon and voila!

---

The inside uses one of the TK sentiments, McGill tab punch and misc. snowflake stamp.

---

Totally out of my normal box, but it was fun to create!

I finally got organized to really get down to business on my huge Christmas card order!

4 packages of white card stock (250 sheets each)

6 packages of blue 12 X 12 card stock (50 sheets each)

1800 snowflake punches

120 yards of 1/2 inch satin ribbon

ink pad & 2 refills

& 1 gorgeous stamp!

Then I cut out the 600 pieces to stamp on.

Then I started stamping!!! I ran out of table space and quit stamping at 126!!!

Only 4 more table fulls and I'll be done! But truly, I get some very odd satisfaction working on a huge assembly line! I'm so glad I get to do this! I love it!!!

Christmas Sparkle

I get to do another Christmas "stack" class! This one is going to be all about the glitter! We are going to be using a couple images from Stamping Bella to make 8 cards.

In this one I played around for a while trying to figure out how I wanted to color the ornament. The space is so fine in the swirl that I gave up with Copics, gel pens worked ok, but I finally ended up just using a glue pad and covered the whole thing with glitter!!! NICE! I love the sparkle!

I totally forgot I made this card over the weekend! I got to go out Friday night with a stamping friend, we shopped, we ate good food and we shopped some more!!!

One of the goodies I picked up was a couple of bottles of Robin's Nest glass ball thingies. These are so great! Anyway, I needed some blank cards and wanted to use this new stamp too! I embossed the flower and layered it all up!

Snow Stack Class

Unfortunatly, I've been under the weather the last couple of days, just a nasty cold, and therefore I've not been able to create anything new to share!

We will be creating these two layouts: stamping, embossing, piercing, sponging and lots of things to put them all together. And you will go home with 4 of each card!

Yes, it was a day a dear friend of mine will be proud of. I dug through the closets, cupboards and everywhere I could think of until I found my good old sewing machine in the garage storage room!

So, this is my first attempt at applying some dusty old skills to my love of paper! I'm showing you both of these as I'm not sure which one I prefer. The zig zag or the straight stitch. Either way, this took me a while but I'm pleased I finally set the beast up in my work space. Yes, I has found a home once again!

---

Another thing I did was use my large oval, scallop stamp to versa mark UTEE over Father Christmas, by Crafty Secrets (WHAT AN AMAZING SET!!!). I pressed it super hard into the granuals and it kinda stuck all over the paper. I wiped some of it off but liked the way it gave a more scattered effect. Don't look too close or you might see some of the edges in a scallop!

One of the other fun things I did was take out my grandma's old pinking shears to cut some felt. Not sure if anyone else out there has ones like this so took a pic.

Aren't they great?!?!? They work more like a pizza cutter and roll their way along your fabric, so much fun!!!

More Card Classes!!!

I gathered up some courage, packed up all my Thomas Kinkade stamps and cards samples and walked into a scrap shop, asked if I could speak with the owner and showed off my stuff!

(hehehe)

We chatted about this new line of stamps and talked about what a class would look like, kinds of things I would do and set a date!

I needed to re-work my samples to use the paper she carried and remove things she didn't. So, we are going to talk about basic stamping with these images, kinds of ink & paper etc, and talk about using them without feeling like we need to color like TK!

We will make one card with a cracked glass and another with a shimmer window technique and the third with just stamping. I'm looking forward to it! Wish me luck!

Masculin cards - eek!

It is always so difficult for me not to use flowers on a card! But sometimes I just have to!

Hopefully you will think I succeeded in de-feminizing a card! :)

The coloring is just water color pencils and a blender pen. Sentiment is pieced together using an Amuse stamp and little acrylic alpha set. Background is a retired SU! stamp as well as the bucket & apples, sorry I don't know what they are called off the top of my head! Little apple is a brad from the dollar store.

I also put a little glaze on the apples to make them shine! Hmm, hmm good! Wax on apples!!! hehehe

Fall in Violet

I had about an hour this morning to play at my card table!!! Wonders never cease! It might seem I'm down here ALL the time to my family, but I'm most often taking care of projects I NEED to make, not just playing with paper and ink.

So, I got started with a little challenge over on Splitcoast and this was the result. We had to start with a card we made in the past, keep the layout, papers & just change the stamps. In the spring I made this with flowers and a different sentiment and now I made a quick little fall/leaf version.

Unfortunatly, that is all the time I have today as I'm off to start and "card making club" at my daughter middle school. I've got 2 cards cut and planned for 25 middle school girls! Yikes!!! Should be fun!

What a fast week! My DH is out of town and I'm being a single mom for 7 nights! My hat's off to any parent out there who is raising kids on their own! It is for the birds!!!! Now, I love my kiddies dearly, but it is exhusting doing everything on my own!

Anyway, in the middle of the insanity, I had an order for Christmas cards. AND I GOT THEM DONE!!!! It truly was my therapy this week! hehehe! (2 more sleeps till DH is back and tonight is girls night! Home made pizza, chocolate, Treatsa Pizza, soda, cookies, chips, movies, daughters, sister & friends! Maybe, I'll take a pic of us all and our pizza! Yippy!)

Anniversary Love!

Next month is my 15th wedding anniversary and I'm working on a nice card for my DH. These are a couple I just did for an order and I'm thinking I might just have to create something similar for him.

These Basic Grey 6 X 6 packs are the best for cards! The patterns are sized down so even if you cut only a portion you can still get a great piece of the full page.

And who doesn't want flowers on their anniversary?!?!?

Inspiration Needed!

Today was one of those days that I had to get many cards finished and time was not my friend! So, when in need it's great to have friends and even better to have friends who make great cards!

I casually tootled over to Sherrie's blog and went scrolling through looking for some layout ideas! The card on the left started from the second card on this post. It is a simplified version but I accomplished what I was looking for. Then I wanted to used the larger flower I had that matched and decided to do some without the sentiment.

Fall - My Favorite Season!

Yes, I used a My Favorite Things stamp set to create a card for my favorite season! (hehehe) I'm feeling a little silly today, too many things going on means I have to keep laughing so I don't start crying!!!

I have no idea what paper this is, sorry, it's been hanging around for a LONG time. I really think it is great and finally cut it up!

I love the fall and I'm so ready for some cooler whether to enjoy my hot tub more!

As I have said before, one of my favorite ways to stamp is to sit with the same set and design different ways to use it. Whether it is colors or layout changes I love recreating the same stamps!

Now this wasn't the exact same stamp, but it was at least with the same set! :) Added some flourishes, jewels, a few layers of paper and tied on the ribbon and my order for Thank you cards is complete!

On a side note, I got to spend my day stamping at a friend's house! Does it get any better then that? Well, I won't have time to stamp any more until the weekend so I'm pacing myself to show what I made over the next few days!

Ok, if you have not had the chance to check out PaperTrey, today is your day! (hehehe) These sets have been ranted and raved about but I haven't been much of an on-line shopper so I just haven't bought any - UNTIL NOW!!!

This is positively the set for me to start with (I make no promises of not being forced into buying more :)

This flower is the second of 4 large flowers, with a matching fill-ins or outlines. The set has a bunch of tiny stamps for you to use your creativity to add layers of colors or depth. And with all the stamp pieces Papertrey has made it so easy to bring in a ton of color!

This is pretty simple and basic but I am always drawn to browns and anything with some flourishes! So the flower that made me buy this set had to be the first to see ink!

I used a new Adirondak Sepia & Stazon Black, stamped, sponged and punched and within a few minutes I had my warm up card done!

Now, if only I had enough energy to create more than one card tonight! Oh, well there is always tomorrow!

Ranger Alcohol Inks

I got the chance, a couple of months ago, to play with some Ranger Inks for the first time. I came home with a couple backgrounds done but never finished them off!

I really wanted to focus on the background and not cover it up. I used CHF large Daisy Patch with Stazon Ink. Finished it with some corner punches and really cool ribbon and I was happy!

This is a project I am thrilled to have been able to do!

My little sister has just purchased her first home and is having a party! I got to create her invitations with the bella I bought just for her!

Blue is her favorite color, I love it with brown, found some fun paper and spent a few hours coloring! I used watercolor pencils with my blender pen, glazed the little tooth and used my glitter pen on the toothbrush to look like toothpaste.

How Many Can You Make?

We are about to find out how many cards, of the same layout, I can make before I get tired of making cards!!!

My DH's, boss asked if I wanted to make the office Christmas cards this year. SURE! I'd love to!!! Then I found out we are talking about at least 600 cards!?!?!?!

And he doesn't like A2 size. He wants them bigger! So, the best and only stamps I have that will accomodate a larger card would be the amazing Thomas Kinkade stamps, from Cornish Heritage Farms. YIPPY!!! What a great reason to stamp away. But, I also have to consider how much they are willing to pay and how many supplies I need to buy and that equalled fairly simple cards BUT the images speak for themselves and don't need enhancing! PERFECT!!!

So, by next week I will know which layout they like and will be creating quite and assembly line! Anyone want to be my slave labourer? hehehe

This is one of the newest sets in my collection. Yes, I admit it, I am a stamp collector. They say admitting an addiction is the first step! hehehe, I think I'm gonna stay stuck here!

I just cannot sell/trade "old" stamps. I need more new ones, but I just can't let go of my old ones, I love them all too much!

Anyway, flowers truly are one of my favorite things and I love finding all kinds of flowers for my cards.

This one is actually from the $ store. A big bunch for $1!!! I pull them apart and use the individual layers. This is the largest one, a bit big for a card, but folding it over worked quite nicely!

So, I felt like being super productive and I ended up with 18 kits! These are 4 of the 6 designs I created, each with multiple kits.

Yes, it was bugging me to find a way to use a fabulous stamp with some fabulous pp!!!

This stamp is also from the Thomas Kinkade line at Cornish Heritage and the pp is from a brank spankin' new pack I got today, Mellow by Basic Grey. (6 X 6)

Anyway, the image in stamped in Timber Brown Stazon and then glazed with Ultra Thick Embossing Powder.

I have a good girlfriend who loves fishing and I always think of her when I see this stamp, so here is my version of a fisher-woman! :) Let's see if she can figure out who she is?!?!?

I really needed to use a Kinkade image and went pretty plain to showcase the stamp.

One of my favorite ways to get creative is to sit with the same stamps and come up with a bunch of different layouts and color combo's to use them! Here I was going for cutsey, vintage and contemporary! I used Cornish Heritage's Daisy stamp with Autumn Leaves Elegant Flourishes. Below each card is a brief description of each technique I used! Enjoy!

Here I used white glittery paper, sponged on Old Paper Ranger ink to give it more of a champange color. Then on the image I used thick embossing powder, 2 layers, and created a cracked glass effect. With the glaze and the glittery paper it is so sparkly IRL! Then added a simple rick rack ribbon to finish it!

Here I used some watercolor pencils and a blender pen to color. Layered it with one of my favorite color combo's and added some liquid glaze to give the jar a "water filled" look.

Again, I used a watercolor pencil and craft ink to color. Layered it a wee bit differently to create some blank space and all you need is a simple sentiment to finish it off!

It sure doesn't get much easier than this!!! All three of these papers are from the same DCWV Glitter pack. I really did want to make sure the paper was the focus so all I needed to do was add some ribbon, flowers and a small sentiment and I was done!

Yes, I really have found my happy place again and making the most of it while I have some time!

Creative Time!!!

Oh, how I was longing for creative time! Free from distractions, heavy with projects and I work like crazy! I love having projects or purpose in what I am creating. It gives me that extra umph of drive and excitement around what I need to do.

So, here are two cards that I love! I found this little recipe (layout) I think on Beate's blog and in playing around with it I discovered I also loved it flipped. I took this photo of them both to show you how you can really used a great recipe and make it your own. (I've got a bunch more that I made but I am going to pass myself to post them all over the next few days!!! hehehe)

Below, I took individual photo's just in case you wanted to take a closer look at them.

Supplies is used are: Prism, Bazzill, & MM papers, Fiskars stamps, Primas flowers, Cuttlebug textile embossing plate, Joann's brads, bulk ribbon.

Yes, on our holiday I did manage to get a little card time squeezed in! My MIL wanted some Christmas cards and just plain did not have the time to make any before we left so a brought along a few things! hehehe

That little image is Wordsworth, and the stamp has 3 couples and I just used the one she liked best. I actually got about 60 of them colored and ready to assemble.

Last year when this SU! set came out this layout sold me on it. So, this is my own little version of many talented women on Splitcoast. It was fun to do such different ideas for her!

While I stamped and cut, my sis-in-law kept me company beading. Her bracelets and neclaces were all so lovely! She got me to buy a few things to give it a go, and I think I infected her with a wee little card making bug! Sorry Dale! (I'm sure her DH isn't too thrilled with another hobby to spend $ on! hehehe)

Another fun part of our last day was in the sand! The girls and Chad had a load of fun building castles.

I think the flat building on the right was the guest quarters or something! Maybe a porta potty in the middle? Who knows!

And then came the fun of deflating my favorite toy. I floated around on that $12 Save-On-Foods chair for hours!!! Best money I'd spent in a long time!!

Our Holiday!

After about 9 hours of driving we landed here in Wasa Lake BC. What a sacrifice staying here for 6 nights!!! hehehe This is the bed & breakfast all 15 of us stayed at. Chad's parents wanted to have a family holiday. So, the Winnipeggers and Abbotsfordians all met here and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

This first photo shows the main house at the back behind the trees where some of us stayed and we enjoyed an amazing full course breaky every day and the front house has 2 more units and a great summer kitchen for us to cook and eat together for lunch & supper.

It was another sacrifice to wake up to this every morning!!!

What a beautiful little lake. We had a ton of fun swimming, floating and hanging out together.

We also got to explore around the neighboring towns of Cranbrook & Kimberly. In Kimberly we got to have a fun little train ride up to some old, closed mines. I think I can, I think I can....

We just tried on the hats, didn't actually do any work!!!

Then back in the car for a little drive down to Montana. Yes, we all get a little silly until something electronic gets plugged in!

The girls are going to be embarassed to find out I posted these!!!

The second week we stayed at a golf resort and got to swimm, swimm, swimm!!!

Explored some of the sights. This is the mystery house of vortex!!! (Insert deep, scary laugh hehehe) It is built a bit slanted but it feels really weird inside.

Here, K feels like she is standing normaly and I'm taking the pic straight. Some weird gravity anomoly. Loads of fun inside!

We stopped here for lunch! Chad & K went exploring down in the rocks. Gorgeous!

Cliffs, you don't want to look up or down! But I did anyway! So amazing!

Within seconds we would see forested mountains....

Then cave like/rock faces....

Then back to the forests again...

Then back to this! So beautiful!!!

Around the corner we went and drove over this cool bridge. This was on our last day driving through eastern Washington on the way home. Ah, yes all good things must end but we sure did love it while it lasted!

Yippy! What a great thing to be! Missing in action! We have been away on an amazing holiday! Touring BC, Montana, Idaho & Washington. I've got a ton of fabulous pics to share but I haven't uploaded them yet. And, we are still in Montana!!!
I'll be home in 4 days and will have some great stuff to share with you! I've even been able to spend some time creating!!!

Up, Up and AWAY!!!

We finally got to enjoy my Christmas present from 2005!!! Chad got me a certificate for a hot air balloon ride! Then because of my accident last spring, we were unable to go last summer and they graciously let us use it this year, even though it had technically expired last year.

We had to be in Langley at the airport by 6am. Meaning waking up just before 5am!!! Way too early for these old bones, but so worth it! Then they drove us to our departure site.

When we arrived, the balloon looked like this, half inflated, laying on the ground.

Within a couple of minutes they started filling it up with hot air and before long...

we had lift off!

Up, up and away we went!

Before long this was our view! Amazing! That is Mt. Baker in the distance, and the long, straight road is the #1 Hwy.

This was a quick shot one of the ground crew took for us seconds before take off! I didn't get the pics downloaded in the right order! Sorry!

What a view!!!

These are strawberry fields. So tiny from up here!

So cool watching the flames up in the balloon. But it was soooo hot!!! We were told to where hats and long sleeves to keep the heat off our skin.

After a fun hour of looking for places we recognized and just plain taking in the beauty of our province we had to come down eventually. At the top of the balloon's shadow you can see a couple of dots. They are the ground crew waiting for our landing.

Yes, what goes up must come down! Bummer! We land, wait our turn to get out and watch them tip the basket over and deflate the balloon.

And that is all that is left! What a fabulous gift! It was an adventure to remember!

Yup, I believe in Love at First Sight!

I got some more time tonight to play with Tom!!! This card is stamped on shimmer paper, colored the light from the windows with yellow pencil & glitter pen, matted in the blue & green then glued on golden beads all around the edges. So sparkly IRL! I love it!

This one is also stamped on white shimmer paper but with a dark blue craft ink. Had to let it dry for a while before I used my glitter pen to highlight lots of different areas where I thought light would be reflecting off. Attached with the row of brads and glued on the little round metal piece. Again, it is so sparkly!

I got tagged today from Debbie! 7 odd facts:

1) I am totally addicted to travelling! Those who know me well probably have figured this out already, but almost all of our extra money goes to the next holiday or to pay off the last one! I've been to Palm Springs, California (3 times), Oregon (2 times), numerous weekend trips into Washington, Florida, New York, Montreal and 3 cruises in the Carribean! We are heading to eastern BC, Montana & Idaho this summer and are in the beginning stages of planning a trip to Thailand in a couple of years! Yahoooooo!

2) I was thought to be my daughters sister when she was in kindergarten. Yes, I had a weee bit of late blooming rebelion and really didn't look much like a mom!

3) I crack my nuckles way too much! But it feels good and I don't want to stop! hehehe

4) My craft space has become my personal therapist. Therefore, considering what I would pay to go see a therapist I think I am saving us money by purchasing stamps and supplies!!!

5) I have an amazing family! Hubby, going on 15 years, loves, adores and takes care of me. Daughters, 12 & 7, going up way to fast, full of humor and so easy to love!

6) I also live with my parents. We have purchased a home together and they live on 1 of the 3 floors. We are so thankful to have them in our lives, to care for each other and be wonderful grandparents to my daughters!

7) Last, but the most important, I have found true JOY in Jesus! Unconditional love, saving grace and the perfect example of who I want to be!

Somethings Bloomin'

May not be my craft table these days, but I did purchase these wonderful baskets that make my front porch wonderful to come home to!

Life has been a little crazy with year end school stuff and extra hours at the office. Thankfully, I've got a couple extra days off and just maybe I'll actually get to my own creativity tomorrow morning, usually my best time.

But until then, I hope you enjoy the flowers I've managed to keep growing! I usually forget to water, over water or who knows what and kill anything I've tried to grow! I'm thilled these keep coming back, now for the 3rd year!!! YIPPY!!!!

Bella Bling Class Tonight!

Oh, I really love teaches these classes at Urban Trends! Tonight we will enjoy Bellas & glitter!!! MM has these great "glue" stickers. It is adhesive on both sides which allow you you stick on glitter, beads, flock etc.

I ended up with extra stickers so the girls will be able to add a few more and use some of their own creativity!

Father's Day Dinner

Well, this isn't what I made for Chad but I forgot to take a pic so this is what I got for my last b-day. Chad actually make this awesome mango salsa with prawn! It was amazing!!!

We bbq'd thick, juicy steaks, prawn skewers, potato salad & jello/pudding fruit salad. Hmm, hmm good! I wish I would have taken a pic!

Of course, the last part that I colored (his face) I worked at getting a light flesh color too long and the paper started pilling which smudged some of the outline. So, I tried to use a find brown marker, but it wasn't so fine.

I just didn't have the time to re-do the whole thing so, his face is just gonna look a little funny!

More Card Kits

Oh My Goodness!!! I delivered 14 card kits to Urban Trends this last Wednesday afternoon and by Saturday afternoon she only had 5 left!!! So, I worked away this weekend to make more.

Keep in mind, these need to stay simple and they need to focus on the patterned paper, cardstock and flowers she sells in her shop. I just add a few stamps and ribbons and hopefully they will continue to sell.

Little tip of the day: On the first set of cards, I wanted to punch the big scallop circle out of the same paper I used for the back mat but I didn't have any more. So, I actually punched the scallop from the back mat then covered it up with my next layer of paper!!! No one will ever know!!! ;)

Super Simple

I needed some super simple, and quick cards and was drawn to my black & white stash! This first card was actually using cream and the second card is white.

The big flower is from a Bazzill Bling pack and they are FABULOUS!!! I thought they might be a wee bit big to work with but cutting them in half did the trick!

There are so many amazing pattern pappers out there that sometimes you just don't want to mess with them. So, all I did was layer some cardstock, white & black, add some ribbon and primas and its enough.

See, super simple but I love them!

Card Kits

Urban Trends Scrapbooking Shop asked me to make card kits for her to sell. Hmm, the trick is to make attractive cards with simple techniques so when someone buys them they will be able to figure out how to put them together!!!

I made 2 packs of 6 for each of these 7 designs. Each pack has 1 finished card and all the parts for 5 more. Wowzers, did I feel like I accomplished a ton today! I hope she likes them!!!

Monochomatic Challenge

The Joy of Using Friends Stamps!

Well, it seems my ability to continue posting has dwindled a wee bit lately! Between painting our home and dealing with some lingering issues from last years knee injury I've not been crafting much!

On a personal note, I went to see my surgeon this morning and ended up in the hospital to have some emergency ultrasounds. After 30 minutes of bruising my leg from my hip, down my inner thigh to my ankle, they were able to conclude that I did not have any blood clots!!! Well, as great as that is, I still don't know why my leg and foot are swelling like a watermelon, with my foot turning purple by the evening. Sooo, back to the doctors tomorrow and hopefully we will figure something else out!

Anyway, I made this card while a friend was over. Pollen dust, and a couple of Paper Tray sets and my mind was spinning with what I could come up with quickly while I had access to them! Thanks Sherrie!

Swap's - Look what I got!!!

I joined a little swap group and this is the first card I received!!! It is such a cool idea! You pull the ribbon on the top and it slides up. It is all Tres Jolie cardstock, paper piecing on the Bella and primas!!!

All the cards I've received are wonderful but I wanted to show you this one because it is such a cool way to make a card. I'm tempted to pull it apart just to be able to put it back together!!! (Don't worry Sarah! In case you read this, I promise I won't!!!)

I've started pasting the cards I receive on the walls and shelves of my craft space. I love them so much! Thanks to all who have sent me creative beauties!!!

Here is the final look! What a change from dark brown! Now, we have to paint the crown molding, replace the baseboards, find a new fan, save more money for wood blinds and save even more money for new carpets!!! It never ends!

It feels great for now and we will see how long it takes to save more $$$!

Our BIG project!!!

This has been my life for the last week or so! I've not been a very good blogger due to the fact the when my DH & I get an idea we are all consumed with it sometimes!!!

This is all our living room contents piled up in the middle of the room. All our walls were 5 different shades of browns. To make a long story short, we bought a new piece of furniture that looked COMPLETLY different in our home than in the store and made the browns look more pukey green than chocolate!

This is our poor dog Allie banned from the space, sleeping on the top stair. The closest she was allowed to get to us while the walls were still wet!

My daughter having a blast being able to help!

And my sister wishing she didn't offer to help! hehehe (Really, Pam you were amazing! And thanks for bringing Laura too!!!)

As I am typing this I realized I never took an after shot! It's too dark to get a nice photo now but I will tomorrow and add it! I LOVE IT!

From numerous shades of brown/green to buttery/creamy soft yellow & brick red! It even makes the space look so much larger being a light color! So, if you have to itch to paint, GO FOR IT! It is a bit of work but so worth it in the end!

Paper piecing!!! Wow! Does that ever take patience, BUT it sure looks fabulous! I've really stayed with easy layouts to be able to focus our time on cutting. Added a few tips on shadow stamping, primas, glitter pens & ribbons and hopefully they will be happy with the results.

All the papers are Polar Bear Press & Prism cardstock!

I've been playing with stamping on pp more these days. Have enjoyed the simplicity of it yet sometimes you do have to think through what stamps work with the paper a bit.

This is another Basic Grey 6x6 pack cut to make a 3x6 card. Used a couple SU! stamps, a little coloring, glaze and ribbon. Both stamps are embossed so they pop out and shine a bit IRL.

Happy Mother's Day

Last weekend I found out my mom had just bought herself exactly what I had already purchased for her!!! Yikes! I didn't have much time to come up with something else. There isn't really anything she needs, so it can be a little tricky sometimes.

Thankfully, the owner at Urban Trends had a great idea for me! Using 8 sheets of 12 x 12, double sided patterned cardstock and 4 matching solid sheets, 2 pieces of cardboard, a few embellies, some elastic cord and voila!

It is a wonderful little photo album! Finished size is 6 X 6. Each page is a pocket to hold a trimed 4x6 photo with a little tab to pull it up!

This is one of the pages, to show you how I also took all the photos. I just couldn't find enough photos that I thought would work, so I took my girls out to our backyard... 40 shots later we had 12 AMAZING photos! 4 together and 4 each on their own!

I took many of them offside, like this, so even when just flipping through the book you could see who it is. (Their faces aren't always hidding in the pocket)

This last is just to show you how the photo pulls out of the pocket! This really is a fabulous, fairly easy project. I've gotta make more of these!

This is another sheet from my 6 x 6 Scarlet's Letter (Basic Grey) pad. I stamped the flourish, sentiment, red flower & butterfly.

I used am exacto knife to cut around the butterfly wings to give a wee bit of dimention, then glazed them to hold the curl.

A little jewel and dragonfly brad to balance the space.

Also, it is an odd size, 3 x 6. This way I could use the pp to its fullest!
